JCP&L Storm Related Information

January 22, 2016

Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) is closely monitoring the developing weather conditions associated with Winter Storm Jonas for this weekend. JCP&L has activated its storm response and Incident Command System plans.
JCP&L has also:  Made arrangements to bring in additional line, substation and forestry personnel as needed  Staffed additional dispatchers and analysts at regional dispatch offices  Prepared to move resources to impacted areas  Reinforced substations in flood prone areas with protective devices  Arranged to hold update calls with officials
Customers without power are encouraged to call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report their outage, or click the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com. In the event of severe weather, customers should immediately report downed wires to their utility, or call their local police or fire department.
JCP&L reminds customers to stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled with trees or other debris. Motorists are cautioned to treat intersections with inoperable traffic signals as four-way stops.
JCP&L customers can also subscribe to email and text message alert notifications to receive weather updates in advance of major storms and updates on scheduled or extended power outages. Customers can also use two-way text messaging to report outages, request updates on restoration efforts and make other inquiries about their accounts. COMMUNICATIONS PERSON – Borough of Chester, Morris County- seeking a part time communications coordinator. Candidate should have solid prior experience utilizing social media, WordPress, and have good oral and written communications skills. You will help set the tone for our community. Therefore, we are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive, upbeat communication style. Background in public relations and municipal environments helpful, but not mandatory. Familiarity with local community preferred. Responsibilities would include the distribution of messages on Face Book, Twitter, and the Swift Reach platform, maintenance of WordPress website and social media pages, drafting letters and other communiques, coordination and expansion of e-mail lists, etc. Position will include interaction with elected officials, department heads and municipal employees. Starting Date: Immediate. Salary: Commensurate with experience. Deadline: This position will remain open until filled. May 11th through the 15th
Limbs/large branches: 1” to 5” diameter. Place branches in neat piles with butt ends in same direction facing the curb. This material does not need to be tied.
Brush: 1” or less diameter. Tie material in 3-4 foot bundles and place at curb. Use string NOT WIRE!
Do not mix with grass, leaves, roots, stumps, garbage etc. This will not be picked up.

Hearing for Tax Court – October 9, 2015

Please be advised that on Friday October 9th,the Tax Court will hear oral arguments regarding the law suit the Borough has filed in relation to the Borough’s 2014 tax ratio. All residents are welcome to addend the hearing. The hearing will be held at 77 Headquarters Plaza, 1st floor, North Tower, Morristown, NJ. The Judge is Judge Bianco. Court starts at 9am. If a more specific time is assigned to this case, it will be posted on this website and the Borough’s Facebook.
